Cumbria’s fabulous landscape is full of natural waters, filled with fish. And there’s no better time than Springtime to take time out to explore the fishing in the abundant rivers and lakes of England’s most spectacularly beautiful county.

Our first-ever festival of fishing  has been created by anglers who know and love the county and its fishing, and is aimed mainly at those who fish for trout and salmon, and for pike.

There will be introductory sessions for beginners, masterclasses for the more advanced, and, of course, there is the freedom to roam the valleys and hills with rod and line.

EVENTS AT NEW MILLS TROUT FARM

New mills is open for all to fish during the festival, you only need book for Fly lessons.

Both events cost only £5 per person. This fantastic price is only possible thanks to the Environment Agency sponsoring the event. They have also allowed a rod licence Waiver for any one attending on either Day, But remember to get one before you go fishing any other time.

WEDNESDAY 20th May

LADIES FLY FISHING DAY

Women make great anglers, but there aren’t nearly enough of them on the banks of our rivers, lakes and streams. Fly fishing is an ideal branch of the sport to try out for the first time. It’s active, graceful and doesn’t require fiddling around with messy or wriggling baits. And if you want, you can cook and eat the trout that you catch.See our recipe page.

Tackle will be supplied, and instruction will be given by Carole Sanderson.

Places are limited so to book a session, please contact New Mills Trout Farm on (01697) 741115.
