Catch Report

 

New Mills Trout Farm- W/e 13th April 2008

 

The change of policy that now allows rainbow trout to be stocked to the main lake at New Mills trout Farm, Brampton on a catch and retain basis has had a dramatic affect on this weeks catches.

 

Darren Purdham of Carlisle had four fish, the best of which was a 5lb brown trout, Luduig Poloucak of the Slovak Republic recorded six fish to 3lb, Neil and Alison Aiston of Carlisle had five fish the best a 4lb rainbow, Robert Cartledge of Manchester landed seven fish the best a 51/2lb rainbow  who fished with Stuart Briscoe of Bolton who caught five rainbows to 4lb, F. Mc Inroy of Workington had two brown trout to 4lb and S. Mc Inroy had seven fish on the day , the best a 4lb brown trout and Mark Thompson of Brampton had two rainbows over 4lb.

 

This week saw a change in tactics from the sinking line with large lures to floating lines and buzzers actually taking fish.

 

The main lake at New Mills Trout farm is now well stocked with brown trout from 3lb to 7lb and rainbows from 2lb to 51/2lb

 

 

CATCH REPORT W/E 27TH APRIL 2008

 

New Mills Trout Farm in Brampton has continued to fish well with some excellent catches reported for the week.

 

Ray White started the week off with four rainbows to 5lb and a brown trout  of 6lb all caught on a floating line using a Montana Gold Head. Alan Meyer of Carlisle reported three rainbows to 4lb and a brownie of 5lb on an intermediate and a gold head hare’s ear, Mirhail of Moscow had three rainbows to 3lb on a floating line and cats whisker, Bob Todd Had two brownies the best of 6lb and four rainbows  on a damsel fly and Trevor Davidson of Gateshead had a brown trout of 6lb and two 2.5lb rainbows.

 

The best of the week was recorded by Michael Beattie who on two visits caught nine rainbows the best of 4.5lb and one brownie of 3lb on a floating line and gold head Damsel/Montana.
